![]() The 2nd Generation of the 4E-FE was introduced in 1996 producing less peak power: 88 bhp (66 kW) 5500 rpm, but with a slight increase in peak torque 87 ft this engine had more in common with the 4E-FTE, sharing the same throttle body, and slightly larger fuel injectors. The engine found in these two models produced 99 bhp (74 kW) 6600 rpm and 86 ft The first generation of 4E engines found in the Starlet GI, Soleil and Corolla models were produced from 1989 until 1996. The 4E engines appeared in fuel-injected applications It appeared in 1989, and was discontinued after 1998. Output ranged from 81 hp (60 kW) at 6400 rpm to 99 hp (74 kW) at 6600 rpm with 81 ft The 4E is a 1.3 L (1331 cc) DOHC version. The valve stem seals, at least, can be replaced with silicone or viton-based seals which last much longer. Any of these conditions can lead to rough idling, stalling, and fouled spark plugs, and therefore need to be differentially diagnosed. The most common problems affecting these engines are premature valve stem seal (nitrile) failure, carbon buildup on the intake valves, and collapse of the oil control ring on the piston. The ā3Eā and ā3E-Eā engines are considered slightly less reliable than other Toyota engines, although they are also among the easiest engines to service. The 3E-TE, appearing in 1986, was a turbocharged engine producing 113 hp (84 kW) at 5600 rpm with 127 ft The 3E engines appeared in both carbureted and fuel-injected applications. It appeared in 1986, and was discontinued after 1994. Output ranged from 78 hp (58 kW) to 87 hp (65 kW) at 6000 rpm with 87 ft The 3E is a 1.5 L (1456 cc) SOHC version. * Toyota Tercel (Caribbean/South America) * AE92, AE111 Toyota Corolla (South Africa) * 5-speed manual gearbox: C150, C152 (turbo model) * Maximum allowable speed in gears (non turbo): * Ignition Timing (with vacuum advancer off): 5 degrees BTDC * Displacement : 1295 cc (late models had 1296cc) Some parts on the 1E and 2E engines are interchangeable, for example the gearboxes. A later version, the 2E-TELU produced 110 hp (82 kW). The 2E-TE, appearing in 1986, was a turbocharged engine producing 101 hp (75 kW). The 2E engines appeared in both carbureted and fuel-injected versions. It appeared in 1985, and was discontinued after 1998. Output ranged from 65 hp (48 kW) to 82 hp (61 kW) at 6000 rpm with 72 ft The 2E is a mean car and is a 1.3 L SOHC version. * 4th Gear: Vehicle Top Speed, around 160 km/h (100 mph) * Ignition timing (with vacuum advancer off): 10 degrees BTDC * Valve clearance: Intake: 0.20 mm Exhaust: 0.20 mm These engines attain excellent fuel economy although performance is tepid. Output ranged at about 55 hp (41 kW) at 6000 rpm. The 1E is a 1.0L (999 cc) carbureted 12 valve SOHC engine. ![]() Ik vroeg me af wat de kleplift hoogte was van een 1.0 (1E) en 1.3 (2E).
